Forest Glen Valentine's Day Dance

It's time for our annual Valentine's Day Dance! PTA and our Forest Glen administration would like to invite all of our students to attend on Tuesday , February 14th, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Students will need a completed permission slip in order to purchase tickets. Admission is only $5.00. Tickets will be sold during lunch on 2/8, 2/9, and 2/10. Please click here for further information and permission slip.

Pre-Quantum Leap 6th Grade Field Trip

"Day at Dickinson" is full of hiking, canoeing and observing some of South Florida's unique ecosystems. The maximum number of students that can participate is 48. The trip will take place on March 28th, 2012 at a cost of $72.00.  Permission slips will be given to the students and payment needs to be made no later than February 18, 2012. For your convenience, payment can be made at the Broward Schools Estore payment website .

Pre-Quantum Leap Application Time line

Pre-Quantum Leap cannot be guaranteed unless students and families adhere to the following timeline and complete the application according to the directions.

Week of March 19:
Applications will be available at Coral Park, Forest Hills, Hunt, and Park Springs Elementary Schools. Applications will also be available at Forest Glen Middle School and they will be mailed to the homes of all families who have provided an address.

Friday, April 20:
All applications must arrive to Forest Glen Middle School by this date in order to be considered “on time”. Any application received after this date may still be considered on a space-available basis.

Week of May 28:
Acceptance letters will be mailed to the 2012-2013 Pre- Quantum Leap Sixth Grade class.

Coral Springs High Quantum Leap Night

Advanced Academic/Quantum Leap Night at Coral Springs High is  on February 15 @ 6:30 PM. 
The Advanced Academic Night is an opportunity to learn about the courses our QL students take in 9th grade and about the Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Programs.  In addition, all of our teachers who teach these classes will be present!  It's a great time for the Pre-QL students and their parents to speak to our current QL students and their parents.

Forest Glen Middle School Tours

School tours begin on December 2nd at 9:30 am. Tours will be held on: 12/9, 1/6, 1/13, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/2, 3/23, 4/13, 4/27, 5/4, and 5/11. To schedule your tour, please call Janet Foley at 754 322 3400.

Forest Glen Saturday FCAT Camp

In an effort to better assist your child in his/her academic success at Forest Glen we are offering five Saturday academic school sessions to strengthen student abilities in MATH and READING on 2/11, 2/25, 3/3, 3/24, and 4/14. Parenest will be required to provdie transportation and complete and sign permission slip by January 30th.

Forest Glen Middle School 8th Grade Students are going to Washington, D.C.

UPDATED INFORMATION: Registration for the 8th grade field trip to Washington, D.C. is now closed.  All students who made the initial deposit as of November 9th are registered.  The payment schedule is as follows:

$250--no later than December 1st
$250--no later than February 1st
$250--no later than March 1st
Balance--no later than April 1st

Payment can be made at the Broward Schools Estore payment website to the left. The permission slip secures your child’s spot on the trip. Payment will not be accepted until a signed permission slip is received and date stamped by Ms. Bates.

Book Reading Bonanza at Forest Glen Middle School for ALL Students

WHAT?: Books read that are of 50 pages minimum (not magazines, not articles) normal fonts, minimal to no pictures.
 

HOW MANY? You have to read 10 books
 

WHEN DO I HAVE TO READ THEM BY? All ten books are to be read by 2/3/12, but there are incentives if you keep on track-
WHAT IS ON TRACK?
3 books completed by 10/31/11
5 books completed by 11/18/11
8 books completed by 1/2/12
10 books completed by 2/3/12

WHAT HAPPENS IF I READ THESE BOOKS?
If the three are read by 10/31, you get a special prize
If the five are read by 11/18, you get another prize
If the eight are read by 1/2, you get another prize
At the completion of the program when everyone has read the ten by 2/3, there will be a "mega-surprise" at the Reading Festival on 2/10/12.

HOW IS THIS DOCUMENTED?
You will receive a form (provided by your math teacher) and you will need to get parent signature/verification for every book you read.
